The coloring of the stone will tell you a lot about the quality of the stone. The finest quality of emerald will have a green coloring that is lime in color or even the color of new grass. The highest quality stone will be translucent. Setting the stone on gold is always a popular idea. One trend that you are now seeing in emerald rings is platinum settings. So take your emerald ring to a well known jeweler.
